Border Mail |BRENDAN Fevola has scoffed at criticism over his decision to bypass Yarrawonga's crunch match against Wodonga Raiders in favour of a one-off appearance for Donvale.
Fevola's decision to play in Melbourne could have huge repercussions after the Pigeons' top-three aspirations took a dive when they went down by three points at Birallee Park.
But the co-coach remained unrepentant when contacted by The Border Mail yesterday.
"I don't really need to answer the critics, do I?", Fevola said.
"I wouldn't have thought so."
He then hung up.
Former Ovens and Murray general manager Ron Montgomery was dumbfounded at his decision on radio, while several O and M coaches have also privately expressed disbelief at the move.
Fevola attracted national media attention while playing for Donvale when supporters offered him a drink of alcohol.
He took a swig before returning to the goalsquare and finishing with seven goals in the Eastern Football League division four match.
