Border Mail |DUAL Yarrawonga premiership coach Chris Kennedy joined the long list of former stars to make a comeback this season when he played for the Pigeons' reserves against Wodonga Raiders at Birallee Park on Saturday.
With the club battling to field a team due to a long list of injuries and unavailability, Kennedy answered the SOS and was far from the worst with his trademark composure across half-back.
Kennedy won a record five Alan McCluskey Medals playing for Shepparton United in the Goulburn Valley Football League and showed he hadn't lost all of his touch.
A handful of third grade players doubled up to ensure Yarrawonga fielded a team against the Raiders.
Albury was also forced to call on some old heads, with Glenn Page, Jeremy Masterson, Ken Howe and Mick Brunner helping to make up the numbers against Wangaratta Rovers.
Page finished the match in the goalsquare after straining his hamstring.
In a major worry for the Ovens and Murray, a handful of clubs have struggled to field reserve grade teams all season, with the AFL North East Border Commission investigating the problem.
