Shepparton News | Some things that happen on a football field are so bizarre they will be remembered forever.
Think a pig painted with legendary forward Tony Lockett's number being released onto the SCG, or umpire Peter Carey marking a ball during an AFL game in 1999.
The Kyabram District Football League had its own unforgettable moment at Ironbark Stadium on Saturday.
Rushworth might have broken through for its first win of the season by defeating Longwood, but that was almost a secondary thought to players and supporters after the match.
Tavis Perry, who returned back to his home club from the Northern Territory for a one-off game, said a field umpire failed to come back on the ground for the last quarter after having a disagreement with another official.
''During the third quarter, one of the umpires paid advantage on a free kick and the other umpire down the field didn't hear him, so they got into an argument on the field,'' Perry said.
''It was pretty heated and they legitimately looked like they would come to blows at one point.
''But the game went on and the playing groups went into their huddles at three-quarter-time and we all thought they would've got over it.
''But we started the last quarter and realised one of them had left, so one umpire had to do the rest of the game by himself.
''It was a massive talking point after the game.''
