FLAG favourite Holbrook has been dealt a cruel blow with forward Michael Lamb suffering a serious knee injury against Lockhart at Holbrook on Saturday.

Scans today are almost certain to confirm Lamb has damaged the anterior cruciate ligament.

Lamb was stretchered off during the third quarter of the Brookers crushing 91-point victory.“We have to wait on scans today but it doesn’t look good,” Holbrook coach Jarrod Twitt said.

“It’s his ACL but how bad it is we will have to wait and see.”

Lamb is regarded as the premier forward in the competition and his expected absence is a savage blow to the Brookers’ flag credentials.

“After Lambie was stretchered off our third quarter was our worst quarter for the day,” he said.

“It was deflating for everyone not only because he is probably the best player in the competition but also the serious nature of the injury.

“He works for himself and you don’t like to see injuries affect bloke’s livelihoods.”

Lockhart was also dealt a blow with Daniel Mulholland also stretchered off in the final quarter with what also looked like an ACL injury.

Holbrook spearhead James Breen was best on ground with six goals as he provided a lively and accurate forward target.

Twitt, Brett Doswell and Lachie Trethowan were the midfield dynamos and instrumental in setting up the victory.

The Brookers’ win was even more impressive considering livewire James Grills, Brad Thompson and Sam Nichols all missed the clash.

“It has been a promising start to the season but I still think there is plenty of room for improvement,” Twitt said.

“We had a bit of an indifferent pre-season with our practice matches and there is still a few issues we need to address before we play the best sides in the comp.”

In other matches, Rand-Walbundrie has stunned the Billabong Crows in the biggest upset of the round.

The Tigers set up the impressive victory after booting five goals in the opening term while keeping the Crows goalless.

Jordan Trethowan, Ben Schilg and Pat Star led the charge while the Crows could only kick seven goals for the match without speardhead Brent Ahro who missed the clash.

Jindera booted six goals to one in the final quarter to overrun fierce rival Culcairn by 17 points.

Brett Garland, Michael Bain and Jacob Millar dragged the Bulldogs over the line with some quality touches in the tense final term.

Premiership contender Brock-Burrum smashed defending premier Osborne by 85 points while Henty scored a comfortable 39-point victory over Howlong.

The Walla and Murray Magpies clash was declared a draw after the match was abandoned midway through the third term.
