Border Mail |MYRTLEFORD recruit Mitch Hough has been cleared to Bendigo league club Kangaroo Flat.
Hough has struggled to make an impact due to injury since arriving at the Alpine Saints and reached a mutual agreement with the Ovens and Murray club earlier this week.
"He's had hamstring tendonitis for most of the season so I guess we have been managing him through that," Myrtleford co-coach Leigh Corcoran said last night.
"His performances have been a bit down and inconsistent because of that.
"He's based in Melbourne and sitting in cars was difficult for him.
"In the best interests of Mitch and the club we thought we would part ways."
Hough joined Myrtleford with a strong resume after playing for Bendigo Gold in its final year in the VFL.
He previously spent two seasons with Kangaroo Flat, as well as playing 98 games for Old Camberwell in the VAFA, including a premiership in 2007.
Hough also represented the VAFA.
Corcoran said his departure would open the door for another player to step up.
"It presents another opportunity," he said.
Myrtleford was dealt another at the selection table with Morris medallist Kristan Height dropping out of the Alpine Saints' team to play Alb- ury at Albury Sportsground tomorrow.
Height and Hough were replaced by Christian Burgess and Jarrod Hayse.
Meanwhile, Yarrawonga has received a timely boost with co-coach Drew Barnes selected to play his first match of the season.
Barnes has taken a cautious approach in his comeback since tearing his Achilles on the eve of last year's finals series and will stiffen a defence which has leaked goals on occasions this season.
Last year's grand finalists also welcomed back Brendan Fevola, captain Tim Cooper and Logan Morey for their vital clash against Wangaratta Rovers at W.J. Findlay Oval.
Hawk captain Tyson Hartwig was named, but is expected to undergo a fitness test on his thumb.
