This week we again have some very evenly matched teams on paper doing battle.
Deniliquin v Tongala
Deni Rams take on Tongala in what is a big game for both teams. They both have 2 wins on the board at this stage and a victory today could prove vital later on in the season. The Rams have slowly gained form with Ash Morris leading the way and Nick Howe, Ricky Gittens and Jayden Pitts giving valuable support. The Rams suffered some injuries last week to key players in Troy Bartlett, Anthony Bull, Simon Maher and promising youngster Brenton Louden. They will be hoping most of them can come up today. Tonny would have been bitterly disappointed with their performance last week and will be desperate for an improved effort today. Tonny Coach Dave Newman will be a key player along with Jarrad Martin, Jimmy Cullum, Jordan Souter and Adam Lovison, while Matt Andrews and Luke McGill provide the key targets up forward. The Rams play their big home ground well and should run out victors in a close encounter.
Mulwala v Congupna
Mulwala should continue on their winning way when they host Congupna. The Lions had a massive 112 point victory over Barooga last week and will be keen for a similar result today. Chase Strawhorn, Anthony Giuliano, Dylan Robinson and Kyle Archibald continue to be dangerous forwards, while Sean Robinson, Tom Van Der Merwe and Tom Wilson provide the drive around the ground. Congupna will want a better performance today led by their experienced players in Mitch Sidebottom, Shane Bensch, Luke and Paul Kenelley, Daniel Bowles and Matt Hodgetts along with some promising youngsters in Kaine Greening, Regan Sheehan, Jack Fuller and Ben Hicks. Mulwala should have too much class and record a comfortable victory at home.
Rumbalara v Echuca United
Rumbalara have the big task of taking on Echuca United at home today. They will need massive games from Levi Power, Dion Williams, Ash Millar, Eric Edwards and Ryan Hudson if they are going to cause a boil over. The Eagles have too much firepower and class in the midfield led by Farran and Rowan Priest, Scott Beattie and Craig Frost. Defenders Jake Guinan and Luke Sanderson have been in good form, along with ruckman James Coppock. Rumba may challenge the Eagles for a period, but the Eagles should run out victors.
Moama v Nathalia
Moama clash with Nathalia looking to get their 3rd win of the season on the board. They have some dangerous forwards in Tyler Jones, David Cornish and Jake Kilmartin and their midfield has been performing well led by Josh Maddox, Daniel Thorp, David Ismail, Taylor Beard and Michael Sage. The Purples will again look to their key forwards in Brodie Ross and Jason Limbrick to kick a bag of goals, while their midfield led by Nathan Ryan, Alistair Corry, Adam Hickey, Jarrod Maskell and Luke Quinn has the ability to match it with Moama. The Mowers usually play their home ground fairly well and should take the points.
Cobram v Tocumwal
Tocumwal fresh from a bye travel to Cobram looking to cause a big upset. The Tigers suffered several injuries against Nathalia last week with Matt Hyde and Daniel McIntyre being the main casualties. The Bloods recruits in Dalton Sanderson, Trent Boglis, Aaron Findlay and Matt Neill have given them a real lift and Dave Farrell, Brad Perkins, Ash Crawford and Ben Phelan provide some valuable experience and drive around the ground. The Tigers have some quality players in John Lucas, Tom Crapp, Tom Thorson, Nick Tassell and Sam Gemmill who should get their over the line, with support from Phil Bourke, Dylan and Ben Ryan. The Tigers should be too good on the final siren.
Numurkah v Barooga
In the final match Numurkah should ensure Barooga retain their winless start to the season. The Blues were very good against Echuca United last week and a similar performance will see them have a comfortable victory. Ex-Barooga player Brent Chapman and Joel Child have been dangerous in front of goal for the Blues and Dylan Sidebottom, Chris Oliver, Nick Fothergill, Jake Wilkinson, Jack Miechel and Justin Murphy should win plenty of the footy around the ground. For the Hawks Ex-Numurkah coach Luke Jarjoura and Chase Saunders will provide the targets up forward. While Zane Goodwin, James Hazelman, Ben Robbins and Harry Foster battle hard against the odds. At home Numurkah will have a big win.
