Border Mail | A SHELL shocked Wodogna Raiders coach Daryn Cresswell is banking on the devastating first semi-final loss to Yarrawonga being the driving force for further improvement next season.
Cresswell watched on in disbelief as the Raiders let slip a 24-point lead at the last change to go down by the same margin at the W.J. Findlay Oval.
"It is pretty hard to believe to be honest," he said.
"They've been there on the big occasions and we haven't.
"You can only hope we learn from this as I thought we worked extremely hard to get back in the game.
"Some of our players were more looking for outcome rather than sticking to a process that got us in that position.
"I hope it burns and that is what has to drive us as a footy club and get back in this position next year.
"We've played two finals and it is disappointing we didn't win one."
The Raiders reluctantly accepted the wishes of Essendon VFL club to leave out Jydon Neagle.
