Tallangaata District FLBorder Mail | RIVALRIES are great when they're on the field, but these two Tallangatta League clubs are taking the fight to Facebook.

Rutherglen and Chiltern have got a friendly wager on the go ahead of round one – whoever has the most 'likes’ on their club's page wins.

The loser will have to change their club's profile picture to the opposing club's logo for the duration of the round.

The bet is the brainchild of Rutherglen and Chiltern social media gurus Seamus Bromley and Jarrod O'Neill, who say it's hard to think of a worse punishment.

“Chiltern approached us a few weeks ago, we recognised that both clubs have a strong following and decided to try and build some excitement before round one,” Bromley said.

“As soon as I told a few people, it became obvious that people at the club didn't like Chiltern and didn't want their logo on our website.

“It's one of those things, everyone knows a lot of people from each town, both clubs have a lot of respect for each other, so it's good to come together for a bit of fun like this.”

Chiltern's O'Neill said last year's finals clash between the two sides had set the stage for the rivalry to resume.

“We haven't had a round one game in Chiltern for a number of years,” he said.
