NORTH Albury coach Jason Akermanis says it has been business as usual for senior assistant coach Corey Lambert this week, despite coming up against old side Wodonga Raiders for the first time today.
Lambert was coach of the Raiders this time last year, however in a stunning twist was lured out of coaching retirement early in the season by home club North Albury to help the Brownlow medallist.
Akermanis, in his first year as coach, said Lambert’s knowledge had been “invaluable”.
“It hasn’t been any different this week,” Akermanis said.
“Corey is that type of guy. He’s a competitive coach and is all over whoever we play.
“His knowledge and intel has been invaluable.
“It will be quite an interesting day for a few of the guys, playing against their old side.”
Akermanis will coach from the sidelines.
Jason Gram, meanwhile, will play his first game since round 6.
He last played against Wangaratta Rovers on May 12 and has finally overcome constant hamstring tightness.
“He’s absolutely fine now,” Akermanis said.
“There’s nothing wrong with him.
“We’ll give him a bit more licence to get around the contest today on a big ground.”
Jarrah Maksymow will make his debut for the Hoppers.
“It’s a bit earlier than we thought but he’ll give us leg speed and pace which you need,” Akermanis said.
Jordan Harrington, Jethro Calma-Holt and Tom Holman aren’t playing today after pulling up sore from last week’s loss to Lavington.
