The selection panel for the important role of senior coach included past senior premiership coaches, premiership players and life members and the decision to appoint Ramsdale was unanimous.
The club formally ratified the position at its annual general meeting last Wednesday.
The club is confident Ramsdale will bring a level of professionalism that will see the side be highly competitive.
‘‘The club has a solid base of emerging young players and with Leigh’s experience, support staff and some key position recruits the Hawks may well see a return to past levels of success,’’ chairman Andrew Leighton-Daly said.
Barooga has now appointed all football coaches for 2014.
Luke Trembath will again take charge of the seconds, current senior player Dylan Brooks has been appointed to coach the under-17s and Chris Gow will again take control of the under-14s.
The club also has a new look netball committee with Carly Brooks as president and Jordan Flanagan as netball manager.
