MYRTLEFORD co-coach Leigh Corcoran has warned Matt Spencer could play anywhere in his return game today. The Saints’ skipper will make his much anticipated return to action from a knee reconstruction after his 2012 season ended in last year’s opening game. Spencer, who missed the Saints’ first round clash with North Albury to attend a wedding, is a confirmed starter against Wodonga Raiders this afternoon.
He’s been named at centre-half-back but his coach said he was no certainty to start there.
“He could be forward, he could be back,” Corcoran said.
“We just can’t wait to have him back, to be honest.
“He’s our captain and we’ve really missed his leadership out on the ground.
“He’s got a real presence out there for us.”
But Corcoran said the Saints wouldn’t put too much strain on their star utility today.
“We just want him to find his feet,” he said.
“There’s no pressure on him. He’s started to get a lot more confident with his movement but we’ll ease him back in if we have to.”
Corcoran, who will tackle his former side this afternoon, said it was no different to any other week.
