wodongaBorder Mail | MATT Seiter talks like he plays his football — honest and straight to the point.

There are no grey areas.

So when Seiter says Wodonga has plenty to be excited about after winning its opening two matches of the Ovens and Murray season you know he’s talking from the heart.

“It’s just a great feeling winning matches again,” Seiter said.

“We are so far ahead of where we were last year.

“It comes down to the young blokes stepping up and having a crack and being fitter.

“Obviously it helps having ‘Twitty’ (Jarrod Twitt), Fixter (Ben) and ‘Braddy’ (Daniel Bradshaw) back, but our young blokes have 20 or 30 games in them now and are making an impact.

“They aren’t fringe players any more.”

Seiter is another reason why the Bulldogs are on the move.

The big man has dominated for coach Dean Harding in wins over North Albury and Wangaratta Rovers and looks a different player to the one who suffered meniscus damage in his knee last pre-season.

“I came back underdone in round 10 last year and probably wouldn’t have played at all if we weren’t struggling so much,” he said.

“I was carrying too much weight.

“My pre-season was been huge this year, like all of the boys, and we are getting the benefits.

“I have lost 10 kilograms and Mahery (Sam Maher) has lost a few.”

Originally from Wodonga, Seiter debuted in 2005 before moving to Melbourne and joining Heidelberg in the Eastern Football League.

He played in two senior premierships and was named in the club’s Team of the Decade.

He then moved to the US before returning to Wodonga in 2013.

Seiter, 28, said his role had been made easier by the return of Bradshaw.

“‘Braddy’ is just so experienced and has a cool head,” he said.

“He has two or three blokes on him all of the time and it leaves space for myself and Mason Marr and some of the other players in the forward line.”
