MATT Shir has ruled himself out of his highly anticipated first clash against old club, Wodonga.
And, in a further blow, he faces an extended stint on the sidelines. The Albury recruit, who hasn’t played since Good Friday, has strained his right calf muscle and admits he has little idea as to when he will return to the field.
But it won’t be this Saturday.
Shir, who came under heavy fire after joining the Tigers, left the field with a heel problem during the season opener against Lavington and hasn’t been seen since.
He was rested last week against Corowa-Rutherglen as a precautionary measure but the former AFL player revealed yesterday he would likely miss two to three weeks with his latest injury.
“I need to get it right,” Shir said.
“The heel is fine, I just got a calf niggle at training last Thursday night.
