YARRAWONGA champion Craig Ednie has launched an interleague call to arms.Ednie this week committed to playing in next month’s clash with the Peninsula league and put the heat on the rest of the Ovens and Murray’s best to do the same.

The Yarrawonga superstar said the league needed to get tough on clubs and players who refused to participate.

The 2006 Morris and reigning Did Simpson medallist has represented the O and M several times and helped run the bench for coach Matt Pendergast while injured last year.

“I think they should crack down on it,” Ednie said.

“Whether it’s a suspension or fine, I don’t know, but you want the better players to play.”

Ednie, who hinted this season could be his last, said he wanted to play alongside the likes of Albury co-coach Chris Hyde again before it was too late.

“Barring injury, obviously, I’m definitely going to play,” Ednie revealed.

“I’d love to have a kick again with Hydey and those guys.

“Kayne (Pettifer) has said he’s going to play and obviously those two have Richmond links with Dean Polo and hopefully it all goes from there and the better guys get involved.

“I’d say other senior guys like Juddy (Porter) and Kade Stevens will put their hand up again, too,” Ednie said.

“It could be our last opportunity to all play together.
