Hoppers dealt a blow as knee injury rules Cary out

north alburyBorder Mail |NORTH Albury will be without talented youngster Kristian Cary for several weeks with a knee injury.

Despite being named in the Hoppers' team to play Lavington at Bunton Park tomorrow, coach Jason Akermanis said the former Murray Bushranger wouldn't take his place in the team.

"He has a medial strain," Akermanis said.

"His knee blew up after the Albury game after one of the bursa became inflamed.

"I would say he's going to be out for a few weeks.

"He's a premium on-baller and, unfortunately for us, he will probably be one of a number of players who will be missing on Saturday even though we will probably name them."

Cary set the Anzac Day crowd alight at Albury Sportsground in the opening term with three goals but limped off the ground in the second term after landing awkwardly on his knee.

Lachie Taylor-Nugent is another player in doubt after injuring his shoulder on the same day.

Youngster Shaun Mannagh was the only selected change for North Albury last night with the youngster returning to the Murray Bushrangers.

In other selection news, Yarrawonga star Craig Ednie has named on the bench to play Myrtleford at McNamara Reserve.

Ednie played the opening match of the season against Wangaratta Rovers before missing the last three matches while holidaying overseas.
