lavington1Border Mail |LAVINGTON will go into its blockbuster showdown against Albury with plenty of momentum after overpowering Wodonga Raiders by 33 points at Lavington Oval on Saturday.

With the exception of a poor second quarter, the Panthers were outstanding with their relentless pressure, tight defence and multi-pronged attack proving too much for Daryn Cresswell's side.

The victory was soured by a hamstring injury to coach James Saker who limped off in the opening minutes and was on crutches after the match.

Saker, who immediately ruled himself out of this weekend's inter-league and looks in serious doubt to play against the Tigers, praised his team's lesser lights for stepping up in the third quarter when Lavington kicked seven goals to one.

"The guys went away from their role in the second quarter and got a bit ahead of themselves but the third quarter was as good as we have played all year," Saker said.
