But Shane Lenon's charges were able to rebound strongly and snatch a thrilling 12.16 (88) to 13.8 (86) victory.
Trailing by two points at the main break the Demons wasted several opportunities in the third term to trail by four points at the last change.
Little separated the two sides late into the contest before goals to Jake Phillips and Jeremy Skyes handed the Demons an eight-point buffer with less than five minutes to play.
