peninsulaBorder Mail |INJURED Frankston YCW ruckman Ash Eames believes Saturday's battle between the Ovens and Murray and Peninsula on Saturday will be a beauty.

Eames, who was named in the Peninsula squad but will miss with a serious knee injury, yesterday said he was disappointed to miss the clash against his former league at Albury Sportsground.

"I snapped my PCL and tore the medial but it should only be seven weeks," Eames said.

"I did it in round 3 and, with a few byes, hopefully I'll be back by round 9.

"It's disappointing. I was looking forward to the game.

"The O and M has bigger names but Peninsula has won the last few — it will be pretty tight."

Eames last played against the Ovens and Murray in 2011, when Peninsula scored a thrilling victory at Frankston.

He has since played in four premierships in five seasons with Frankston YCW.

He hopes his injury curse is behind him, with his club set to again feature prominently.

"I always seem to be injured early in the year," he said.

"It guess it's better that way than late in the season with the finals and everything else that is going on then.

"We have had a pretty good run at YCW.

"Peninsula coach Troy Shannon said Eames was a huge loss because he was in "really good shape".

"He's always very good around the ground."

"I think he was looking forward to the game.

The match starts at 1pm.
