Bendigo FNLLeague Statement | The Bendigo Football Netball League (BFNL) is pleased to announce that the Broadford Football Netball Club (BFNC) has formally committed to joining the league.

While the club will officially remain in recess for the 2025 season, preparations are underway to ensure that Broadford FNC fields competitive football and netball teams in the BFNL
for the 2026 season.

The decision follows months of extensive discussions and strategic planning between the club and the league, ensuring that Broadford FNC is well-positioned for a successful entry into the BFNL in 2026. This recess year will allow the club time to build capacity and sustainability, setting the foundation for long-term success.

Key steps towards 2026 entry:
1. Planning & Strategy
Beginning with the BFNC AGM on 30 October 2024, the Broadford FNC committee will establish a strategic plan that underpins the Club from the bottom up. The strategic plan will guide the BFNC on their journey to entering the BFNL in 2026.

2. Recruitment & Retention
Broadford FNC will continue to focus on recruiting high-calibre football and netball coaches while bolstering its playing group with high-quality talent in both football and netball. A key pillar of BFNC’s longevity will be maintaining strong junior pathways to ensure the sustainability of senior teams.

3. Community Engagement
Strengthening ties with the local community is crucial. The club aims to increase involvement through local events, school programs, and broader partnerships within the town of Broadford and surrounding areas.

4. Financial Sustainability
Financial planning is at the core of Broadford FNC’s strategy. The club will continue to focus on securing long-term sponsorship agreements and additional revenue streams to ensure long-term stability.

Prof. Carol McKinstry – Bendigo FNL President:
“We are excited to welcome Broadford FNC to the Bendigo Football Netball League. While they will remain in recess for 2025, we are confident that the groundwork laid during this time will lead to a strong and sustainable future for the club in 2026 and beyond in the Bendigo Football Netball League.”

Bonnie Cavanagh-Welch - Broadford FNC President:
“This is an exciting chapter for our club. Our goal is not just to join the BFNL but to compete at a high level. We will use this time in recess to ensure we’re in the best possible shape to take the field in 2026, both on and off the field.”
