Match Reviews | THE Woorinen Tigers broke the unbeaten run of the Mallee Eagles in Saturday’s fourth round of the Radio 3SH-backed senior footy in the Central Murray league.
Both teams were on a three-game winning streak rolling into the match on Woorinen’s turf.
The Tim Free-coached Tigers raced to a 32-9 lead by quarter-time.
Mallee fought back strongly to win the second term, 26-8.
A score of 4.4 as it kept the Eagles to a tally of 2.1 in the third meant Woorinen led 68-48 going into the last quarter.
Both teams added two goals in the final term as Woorinen marked an 82-65 victory.
Woorinen’s attack was led by Hugh Thompson with three goals as Will Collicoat, Jose Miliado and Josh Stone added two each.
Eagles’ co-coach Brent Macleod kicked a match-high six goals.
Henry Thompson, Jose Miliado, Lachlan and Matthew Gardner, Blake Reid and Robert Rush were best for the yellow and black.
The Eagles’ best were Harry and Tom McGregor, co-coach Harry Allen, Hamish McGregor, Isaiah Bull and Brent Macleod.
