Loddon Valley FNLMatch Reviews | MACORNA’S senior footy team marked a winning start in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL debut on Saturday in Maiden Gully.

Having crossed from the defunct Golden Rivers league, Macorna took on Maiden Gully YCW Eagles at Marist College Oval.

The Tigers charged to a 46-20 lead by half-time and then broke the game wide open in the third quarter.

As the Fergus Payne-coached Macorna scored 2.4 it kept the Eagles scoreless.

The last term went the Tigers way, 25-22, as players, officials and supporters celebrated an 87-42 victory.

Will Meharry led the attack on three goals as Alex Cockerell and Kieran Foley added two.

Leading goalkicker for the Eagles was Luke Gray on two.

Best for Macorna were Matt Colak, Sam Whinfield, Fergus Payne, Will Meharry, Josh Whittle and Toby Whinfield.

Mitch Hill, Josiah Farrer, Luke Gray, Isaac Neretlis, Mitch Whitham and Anthony Robins were best for the Shawn Filo-coached Eagles.
