The Early Crow

Ballarat FNLBallarat Times | BALLARAT Football Netball League (BFNL) chair Rob Simmonds says the board is watching with interest as Gisborne Football Netball Club members prepare to have their say on where the Bulldogs’ future lies.

For the second time in less than 12 months, Gisborne members will vote on a proposed move to the Ballarat league at a special general meeting on Thursday 30 April.

A similar motion was overwhelmingly endorsed by members last August, with 193 in favour, 20 against and 10 abstaining from the vote.

The move, which was opposed by the Bendigo league, was eventually blocked by AFL Victoria, forcing the Bulldogs to stay put for the 2026 season.

Undeterred, the Bulldogs have vowed to push on and seek entry into the Ballarat league in 2027.

Gisborne’s intentions will be high on the agenda when the Ballarat league board next meets on Monday 20 April.
