Match Reviews | HAY capped a great fightback to beat Ultima by a point in Saturday’s round four showdown in Radio 3SH-backed Central Murray FNL senior footy.
The Lions faced a 26-point deficit at quarter-time and were down by nine points at the main break of the contest in their den at Hay Recreation Reserve.
In the third it was Hay which took control and scored five goals as Ultima added three majors.
The Lions led by a goal going into the final quarter.
Ultima won the term, 20-15, but it was the Lions who clung to a one-point lead as the scoreboard read 103-102 at the siren.
James Lugsdin led the Lions’ attack on five goals as Jack Headon and Fergus Cattanach kicked four and three majors.
Ultima’s leading goalkicker was Dustin Burns on three.
Hay’s best were James Lugsdin, Dylan Adkins, Tom Sheldrick, Declan Watson, Fergus Cattanach and Jack Headon.
