Match Reviews | SCORES were locked on 98-all when the final siren sounded in Mount Pleasant’s senior footy clash with Heathcote in Saturday’s ninth round in the Agnico Eagle Fosterville Gold Mine Heathcote DFNL season.
The Blues and Saints also played for the Cliff and Peter White Memorial Shield on Mount Pleasant’s ground in Toolleen.
Mount Pleasant holds the shield which was first played for in 1997 in honour of two great clubmen who drowned off the south coast of Victoria, along with Mark Bell.
A high-scoring opening quarter was won by Mount Pleasant, 38-25.
Both teams added 3.3 in the second term.
Quarter three went Heathcote’s way, 32-25, to be within a goal of the reigning premier going into the final term.
As the Saints added 3.2 in the last they kept the Blues to a tally of 2.2.
Both teams achieved identical scoring shots of 23 and scores of 15.8 (98).
It was Mount Pleasant’s second draw of the season after a 90-all result against North Bendigo in the round six match at Toolleen.
The Blues’ attack against the Saints was led by the brilliant Ben Weightman on seven goals as Xavier Carter added two.
