Pies secure Tarrant

Logo Maryborough1Bendigo Advertiser |FORMER Collingwood and Fremantle Docker star Chris Tarrant will play for Maryborough in round one of the Bendigo Football-Netball League season next month.

The Magpies announced on Thursday Tarrant would be among their 22 to take on Castlemaine at Barkers Oval Princes Park in the Good Friday season-opener.

"We've got confirmation that Chris will be playing in the first game against Castlemaine, which is fantastic news for the club," Maryborough football manager Mick Reid said.

"At this stage it's a one-off game, but you never know."

Tarrant, 34, will add a crucial chunk of experience on Good Friday into what's expected to be one of the youngest lists this year in Maryborough's history.

"We've been looking for something to create a bit of vibrance and get more people interested in coming and watching the game," Reid said.
