merrivaleThe Standard |MERRIVALE has taken top spot on the ladder from Allansford after a big win in the WDFNL match of the round on Saturday.

The Tigers used their home ground advantage to defeat the previously unbeaten Cats 12.18.90 to 7.9.51.

Star full forward Jet Dowie kicked four goals for the Tigers while defender Jack Grace was named as best on ground.

In other round nine games South Rovers defeated Nirranda by two points in a thriller at the Walter Oval.

Mark Murphy was the match winner for the Lions kicking six of his teams 10 goals.

The other four games of the round were blow-outs with big margins the order of the day.

Josh Stapleton and Chris Chambers kicked 10 goals each for Old Collegians in their 223-point win over Deakin University Sharks.

Alex Pye kicked nine goals for Dennington in their 160-point win over the Timboon Demons.

Panmure defeated Russells Creek by 78 points while Kolora-Noorat were 107-point winners over East Warrnambool.
