Hamilton FCThe Standard |WASTED early opportunities did not come back to bite Hamilton Kangaroos at Hanlon Park on Saturday.

The Kangaroos recorded their third win for the season when they defeated Portland 6.18. (54) to 5.10. (40).

Kicking goals proved to be a tough task with both teams having just three goals at the start of the last quarter. The Kangaroos doubled that tally in the last quarter on their way to victory.

Kangaroos coach Jarrod Holt said he was happy with the way his team bounced back from what he called its worst loss of the season last week against Cobden.

"We put a fair bit into this game, we had lost our last seven games including some winnable ones over the last few weeks," Holt said.

Kangaroos key forward Tom Waters was the only multiple goalkicker in the game with four.
