south warrnamboolThe Standard | SOUTH Warrnambool has vowed to meet with a reserves player involved in a half-time senior melee.

Roosters president Jock O’Connor said the club would investigate what transpired during a fracas against Port Fairy at Gardens Oval on Saturday.

Players from both sides engaged in a heated exchange after the siren for the long break.

“It was potentially very ugly and dangerous,” O’Connor said of the all-in brawl.

“It’s not a good look. It could have escalated but fortunately it didn’t.”

Hamilton Kangaroos and Terang Mortlake players were also involved in a scuffle at Melville Oval.

Hampden general manager Mike Farrow said the league and all clubs had until Friday to decide ask for investigations.

Meanwhile, Cobden’s Jack Hutt will face an independent tribunal this week after he was charged with striking Koroit’s Will Couch.
