Media Release | The WDFNL Board and its 10 Member Club Presidents wish to advise our members, sponsors, and supporters that our 2020 Senior Football and Netball Competition has been officially cancelled.

We have advised AFL Western District of our decision to cancel the 2020 Senior Competition. This decision was not taken lightly, and the WDFNL Board would like to acknowledge and thank our Club Presidents and their respective Committee's for being forthcoming, open and honest within our discussion.

The concerns for all Clubs was the unknown of when we would have a guaranteed starting date for contact training or any form of competition. We believe this decision is in the best interests of all those involved within our League.

Whilst our Senior competition will not be commencing, the WDFNL Board and its 10 club Presidents, support the return of play for the Junior Football / Netball and will be united in their efforts to ensure a competition returns in the agreed format for our young players. This competition will be conducted in accordance with the State Government restrictions, AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria. We must keep our club players, umpires and volunteers safe at all times.

Whilst this may not be the outcome everyone was hoping for, we ask that you support our Club's & League's decision and move forward with season 2021 in your sights.
