Bellarine FNLMatch Reviews | Anglesea has repelled a late Barwon Heads forward foray to escape Howard Harmer Oval with a thrilling one-point win.

In the closing stages, the ‘Seas defence was forced to work overtime in the left back pocket at the Bass Strait end of the ground to hang on for a 14.11 (95) to 14.10 (94) victory.

After a long kick inside the Barwon Heads’ forward 50 cleared the pack, Will Batson tracked a loose ball towards the boundary line.

He exchanged handballs with teammate Dylan Fetaon before escaping a lunging tackle from Seagull Jake Whybrow to get a clearing handball away, which was followed shortly after by the final siren.

Anglesea led by as much as 22 points during the third quarter, and the margin was still 13 points 14 minutes into the final term.

However, Barwon Heads recruit Jake Whybrow cut the margin to seven points before Charlie Hurst levelled the scores at the 25-minute mark.

In the end, a rushed behind following a quick snap from Anglesea’s Dale Kerr two minutes later proved the difference.

Star ‘Seas recruit Ayden Gras extended his lead on the goalkicking table, finishing with six goals to take his season tally to 25.
