K Rock | Thomson has sacked co-coach Jacob Knight four weeks from the start of the new GDFNL season after what the club has labelled “a review of an off-field matter”.
Players and members were told following training last (Thursday) night that the talented forward wouldn’t be sharing the coaching role with the experienced Paul Lynch in 2026.
Geelong Broadcasters understands Knight is due to reappear in the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on April 17 after being bailed following an appearance in Echuca Magistrates’ Court earlier this month.
“Following a review of an off-field matter that does not align with the values and morals of the Thomson Football Netball Club, the club’s Executive has determined that this course of action is in the best interests of the club and its members,” a statement from Thomson said.
“The Executive Committee takes the culture, standards and reputation of our club very seriously.
“Our expectations of all coaches, players and officials extend beyond the field and reflect the values we strive to uphold within our community.”
