COLAC star Joe Dare’s enforced lay-off may be a blessing in disguise.
On Monday night he was handed a two game ban plus two suspended for the rest of the season for a headbutt on South Barwon’s Jason Kerby.
The Tiger has battled some minor ankle issues in the opening four rounds of the season.
Dare will miss matches against St Albans and Newtown & Chilwell before a representative match bye on May 24.
It means he will have a three week spell on the sidelines.
The former Carlton-listed player told the tribunal he wasn’t aware he made contact with Kerby’s head during the incident and thought the South Barwon player was trying to earn himself a free kick.
Both Kerby and McGlade rated the contact as a three out of 10, with the Swan adding he didn’t suffer any injuries or concussion from the clash.
Dare said he didn’t want the stigma of being known as a headbutter against his name.
