Geelong Advertiser | INVERLEIGH coach Mark McDowell won’t have to temper his team’s excitement despite the Hawks claiming a 59-point victory over Bell Post Hill.
The Hawks put the reigning premier to the sword in slippery conditions to remain undefeated at the top of the GDFL ladder.
But McDowell believes his side would have learned lessons from last year when it beat both the Panthers and North Geelong then gave away points to Belmont and Winchelsea.
“We are not getting too carried away with it,” McDowell said.
“We will remind them what happened last year. We dropped a couple of games we were expected to win and it almost cost us the double chance.
“The hard work of getting over Bell Post Hill and North Geelong was undone by getting done in games to Winchelsea and Belmont.
“They know how important it is. There is no point winning one you’d class as an eight-point game if you drop one you are expected to win.
