simpsonWeekly Times | AN UNTIMELY bingle and two rogue cows are putting the squeeze on a southwest footy club’s quest for back-to-back flags.

The perils of fielding a team of many farmers came home to roost for Simpson this week with a run of bad luck leading into Saturday’s CDFL grand final Irrewarra-Beeac

“One player has been in a car accident, but he’s no worries.

One player got kicked in the hand by a cow while he was milking on Sunday, but he’s fine,” coach Adam Courtney said.

“And Jono Jennings has cut his knee open chasing a cow around the paddock and we’re not sure if he’s going to come up or not.”

The Tigers were meant to be enjoying extra rest after downing South Colac in the second semi-final but their campaign hit the skids on Monday night.

“(Brock Neal) rolled the car and it’s a write off but he’s no worries at all,” Courtney said.

“He just lost it on a gravel road and overcorrected it and flipped the car but it landed back on its wheels, so he was very lucky. It’s not what we need this week ... or any week for that matter.”

Only hours earlier Brad Salmon suffered a swollen hand when he was kicked by a cow in the dairy farm.

And the bad luck predictably arrived in threes when Jennings came a cropper and he appears to be the major casualty with his knee injury and is in doubt for the decider while Neal and Salmon have been passed fit to play.

“It’s absolutely bullshit,” Courtney said. “You wouldn’t read about it.”

But you just did.
