Central Highlands FLUMPIRES called off a Central Highlands league match between Hepburn and Beaufort after a melee broke out on Saturday.

The game was called off about 10 minutes into the final term, with Hepburn leading by 89 points.

It is understood the melee erupted after a Hepburn player was yellow-carded and sent off, but he refused to leave the field.

The scores — Hepburn 16.13 (109) to Beaufort 3.2 (20) — will stand, as the match was abandoned after half time.

FIVE first-quarter goals from power forward Grant Weeks helped propel Rochester to a 19-point win over Echuca in the Goulburn Valley league on Saturday.

Weeks failed to add to his goal tally after quarter time, but the Tigers had enough breathing space to post a 13.10 (88) to 10.9 (69) win in the Round 1 clash.

In other Goulburn Valley matches, Justin Maddern slotted 10 goals to guide Shepparton Swans to a 20-goal mauling of Shepparton, while Mooroopna posted a three-point come-from-behind win over Shepparton United.

DARCY Keast was the hero in North Warrnambool's three-point triumph over Terang-Mortlake in Round 2 of the Hampden league.

Keast sealed a 13.10 (88) to 12.13 (85) victory for the Eagles when he goaled from a 50m penalty with less than 30 seconds remaining in the final term.

It condemned Terang-Mortlake to two three-point losses in as many weeks.
