Weekly WrapThe Weekly Wrap | This weekend saw a further 11 Victorian country football and netball leagues begin their 2022 seasons, and with 3 more leagues to kick off by April 23rd, the season will be in full swing.

Following Inglewood FNC last week breaking a 42 game losing streak in the Heathcote & District FNL, this weekend another long suffering club notch up a long awaited win. In the Colac and District FNL, Otway Districts FC were able to sing the song for the first time since round 11 in 2019, when they had a 19 point win over Apollo Bay, 8.18 (66) to 7.5 (47).

The thriller of the weekend took place in the Ovens and KIng league where Moyhu FNC club came from behind at 3/4 time to run out 1 point winners in their clash against Whorouly FNC, 10.9 (69) to 10.8 (68). Meanwhile in the Gippsland FNL, Warragul FNC came from 20 points down at 3/4 time in their clash against Wonthaggi Power FNC to score a hard fought draw, 16.10 (106) apiece.

At the other end of the scale there were some big wins that took place with 6 teams kicking over 200 points in their games. Ordinarily, Churchill FNC kicking 41.17 263 in their game against Gormandale would get them to the top of the list of big scores for the season. However this amazing effort was surpassed by Dederang Mt Beauty who kicked a staggering 63.12 390 in their match against Wahgunyah FNC, who could only manage 5.2 32.

Given the size of the scores this weekend, it was a certaintanty that there would be some big bags of goals kicked. Heading the table for this week are a pair from Dederang Mt Beauty FNC, with Nicholas Hynes kicking 21 and his teammate Cody Hewat snagging 16. Two bags of 11 were also kicked by Ben Kearns from GormandaleFNC and Tyson Siddle from Buchan FNC in the Omeo and District FNL.

This week sees many leagues taking the Easter long weekend off, so there will only be 12 leagues in action.
