KDFLPress Release | After two big defeats in the Seniors to start the 2017 season Ardmona will play the rest of the season in the Reserves as decided by the Executive at last night’s meeting.

The club has not fielded a Reserves side so far this season and their Senior side has been defeated by 254 points in Round 1 against Undera and 348 points against Rushworth in Round 2.

KDFNL President Wayne Ryan said it was a difficult decision but the right one to help the club rebuild.

“After two big losses in the first two games and a very difficult start to the season we spoke to Ardmona’s President Brett Sharp and Coach Brent Ralph over the past few days and proposed to them the option of playing their senior side in the reserves for the rest of the season” he said.

“They spoke to their playing group who accepted this as the best path forward and we then consulted with each Club President who were also supportive of the move.”

“With the club fielding only one senior side the move to the reserves will allow them to be more competitive and also to retain their players for the rest of the season and rebuild their list.”

“The Executive also decided that Ardmona’s two games that have been played so far against Undera and Rushworth would be reduced to 100 points to zero margins, however McNamara Medal votes, goalkickers, etc would be retained.”

“The two reserves games that have been played without Ardmona would also be dealt as being a 100-0 forfeit and the ladder would reflect this.”

Ardmona President Brett Sharp was philosophical about the move.

“We continue to have good numbers for our senior side but obviously our performances have been a long way off the mark and we have been uncompetitive.”

“Our group of volunteers are working tirelessly to rebuild the club and our one team playing in the reserves each week will help us keep our group of players together and avoid the unsustainable defeats that we have had in the first two weeks.”

“The Easter break this weekend gives us a chance to regroup and I would like to acknowledge the League and the clubs for their ongoing support of our club at this time.”
