AFLCommunityChallengePress Release | AFL Victoria has been informed by the Collingwood Football Club that the Holden Centre will not be available to host the 2017 AFL Victoria Community Championship match between South East FNL and Hampden FNL on May 13.

The Collingwood Football Club cited the potential for poor ground conditions as the reason for its decision.

AFL Victoria, in conjunction with South East FNL and Hampden FNL have agreed to move the senior interleague match to Casey Fields, located in Cranbourne East.

AFL Victoria Community Football Operations Manager Gerard Ryan said that this was a positive outcome for both leagues.

“While we are disappointed with Collingwood’s decision, we are thrilled to be able to use Casey Fields to host the 11 vs 12 match between South East FNL and Hampden FNL,” he said.

“Casey Fields’ facilities are of a high standard, with the AFL hosting the JLT Community Series and AFL Women’s League matches at the venue earlier this year as well as regular VFL matches throughout the season.

“We thank the City of Casey, South East FNL, Hampden FNL and all other parties involved for their cooperation and assistance in finding an alternative venue.

“We look forward to seeing big crowds flock to Casey Fields for what is set to be a fantastic match of senior representative football.”

The 2017 AFL Victoria Community Championship match between South East FNL and Hampden FNL will kick off from 1pm on Saturday May 13.
