OMFNLThis statement has been released on behalf of the Albury Tigers Club.

Albury Tigers footballer James McQuillan remains in intensive care at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne.

Mr McQuillan is believed to have suffered spinal injuries after colliding with a Yarrawonga player during the second quarter of a match at the Albury Sportsground on Saturday.

Albury Tigers Vice President and Player Welfare Manager Paul Joss returned from Melbourne to Albury last night to update club officials, players and supporters on his condition.

"James was brought out of an induced coma yesterday with his family at his side. The doctors have indicated that it could be another four to six weeks before we know the full extent of his injuries," Joss said.

Mr Joss stated the support from the community had been overwhelming.

"A number of clubs and members of the local football community have been in contact with the McQuillan family and our club, and the support is very much appreciated."
Albury Tigers Club President Gavan Schultz, AFL North East Border General Manager John O'Donohue and Ovens and Murray Football Netball League General Manager Aaron McGlynn will continue to work together to ensure Albury Tigers Club players, trainers and supporters receive the appropriate support.

The club will make no further comments at this time and requests that the privacy of the McQuillan family continue to be respected.
