murrflThe  Murray Football League Executive today announced the Finals Venues for 2014.

As with previous seasons the minor finals remain on a rotation basis. "By rotating the finals Clubs are encouraged to take pride in their facilities and as we have seen over the past few seasons the grounds have been in spectacular condition," explained ClubMulwala Murray Football League General Manager, Dale Norman. "Gate receipt records continue to be broken every year despite not increasing the price of admission since 2006."

The major change to the fixture is the location of the Grand Final. A different venue was sought with the move of Tocumwal, the host of the Murray Football Netball League Grand Final for many years, to the Picola & District Football League.

All clubs were sent an expression of interest in being the "host" for the ClubMulwala Murray Football Netball League Grand Final earlier this year. In the Tender document were the requirements of the host and the League. Four clubs, Moama, Finley, Numurkah and Nathalia, took the opportunity to register their interest.

The quality and professionalism of the four submissions was exceptional and made it very difficult for the MFL Executive. "The Executive wish to thank and acknowledge all four clubs for the enormous work that went into each of the submissions. The Executive has been truly impressed with the quality and high level proposals presented which made it difficult task in choosing a preferred venue. The enthusiasm by all clubs to host the Grand Final was outstanding. In the end Moama was selected as the venue for the 2014 Grand Final," stated Mr Norman.

For the Executive, Moama ticked all the boxes in regards to facilities for spectators, players, umpires and administrators. Security, parking, and catering were also scrutinised in an extensive review.

"We want the supporters to go to our showcase event and have an enjoyable time. Moama FNC has a proven track record when hosting large events such as the highly successful Good Friday fixture and the Goulburn Campaspe junior Football Carnival.

The Executive is thrilled to be working with such enthusiastic partners who are committed to ensure the event's success for all stakeholders."

Moama Football Netball Club President David Grubb was delighted that the Club had been awarded the honour of hosting 2014 Murray Football Netball League Grand Final.
"September will be a festival of Football & Netball for the Echuca Moama Region with Moama staging the Preliminary Final in the week prior.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Moama Football Netball Club to showcase their facilities and hospitality to the Murray Football Netball League."

The term of the agreement is for one year with a review to be conducted in October to future Grand Final venues.
