The SS&A Ovens & Murray Football Netball League inducted six more greats of the game into the league Hall of Fame at last night's annual event.
This year marked the 10 anniversary of the Hall of Fame. After last night a total of 53 champions of the O&M have been honoured with induction.
Albury champion Tim Scott was the first to be inducted at last night's ceremony. Scott played 191 senior games for the Albury Tigers in which he achieved premiership success in 1996 and 1997 after a season with the Sydney Swans. The talented rover claimed three club best and fairest awards as well as earning the honour as the 1993 and 1994 Morris Medalist. Scott represented the O&M, VCFL and NSW during his distinguished career.
Wangaratta Magpies' Kevin Mack was the second inductee for 2014. Mack played 210 games for the Pies between 1956-1967. He was vice captain for eight of those years. Mack claimed two flags with Wangaratta in 1957 and 1961 and was honoured with 2 club best and fairest awards in 1959 and 1964. He represented the O&M and is included in the Wangaratta Team of Legends.
Neil Currie from the Myrtleford Saints was the third inductee last night. Currie played 166 games for the Saints from 1951-1961. He became Myrtleford's first ever Morris Medalist in 1957 after winning a club best and fairest in 1952. Currie later served on the Saints committee and was last year inducted into the MFNC's Hall of Fame in 2013.
Wodonga Bulldog's great Frank "Chooka" Elkington was the fourth inductee for 2014. Elkington played for his beloved Bulldogs over a 12 year period from 1950 to 1962, totaling 202 games. A two time club best and fairest, "Chooka" is a member of the Wodonga Team of the Century and an Inductee in the Bulldogs Hall of Fame. He represented the O&M from 1953-1955.
The fifth inductee in 2014 was Benalla and Yarrawonga champion Bill Sammon. Sammon played 197 games for the Demons including a premiership in 1973. He played a further 54 for the Pigeons. The man known as "Trout" coached at both clubs and represented the O&M on 10 occasions before also coaching at representative level. After his coaching career he joined the O&M board and is also a life member of the league.
Wangaratta's Phil Nolan was the sixth and final inductee for 2014. Nolan played 175 games for the Magpies and coached the club for three seasons including a premiership in 1976. He represented the O&M, a board member of the league and life member of both the O&M and Wangaratta Magpies and was included in the club's Team of Legends.
