The Sunraysia Football League is pulling out all stops to prevail in this year's WorkSafe Country Championships and force their way back into the Top 10.

One of the longest road trips in football has been made a great deal easier with the Sunraysia FL set to fly to Melbourne for a date with the South East Football League.

Formerly known as the Casey Cardinia FL, the men from the Peninsula will be no easy task for the Sunrasyia boys in the 11 v 12 play-off but one major obstacle has been removed.

Instead of facing the 13-hour round trip on the bus from Mildura to Casey Fields, the Sunraysia's finest will instead board a flight to to Melbourne on Friday before making the return trip on Sunday morning.

Making the weekend even more appealing for the representative side is the league's move to secure tickets for the blockbuster Hawthorn and Sydney clash on Saturday night at the MCG.

The Sunraysia FL has lost their past two matches in the Country Championships, falling to the Murray FL at home last year and succumbing to the Hampden FL in Warrnambool in 2013.

League administrator Peter Walker said it was the experience in the southwest that had inspired the League to change travel plans this time around.

"Travelling from one end of the state to the other on a bus we found wasn't that appealing for players and the Board decided that if we they were going to compete they needed to offer an experience that was attractive."

"It might still be a three-day weekend but we think players will be keen to represent their league and have a taste of the life of a professional footballer."

While the squad is far from finalised there are high hopes of a return to the winners list with former VFL midfielder Ben Duscher, former Essendon speedster Andrew Lovett and champion forward Jason Eagle in the mix.
