malleeflThe top 2 teams have flexed their muscles in a one sided round of Mallee Football League action.

Coming off a disappointing loss to the hands of the Giants last week, Woomelang Lascelles were determined to get back on the winners list and confirm their top 2 status.

The cream rose to the top and classy performers Trent Donnan and Devin Mcfarlane dominated the game from start to finish. The Cats were never in danger and kicked away in the first quarter to show that they were out for nothing less than a win.

Arnold Kirby was dominating the ruck and providing options around the ground and Joshua Ratcliff was dangerous when he was resting forward finishing with 5 goals.

Ouyen United's backmen were under siege. Aron Morrish battled hard for the Demons but had little support. The Cats' face paced, sling shot style football brought the football quickly and accurately in their forward line and the Demons simply couldn't go with them.

Brodie Adcock was damaging with his disposal again and was ably assisted by Bryn Weadon. They were both able to create turnovers and work together to run the ball out of defence.

While the Demons seemed down and out at three quarter time, they rallied to outscore the Cats in the last. As we have seen before it was their younger brigade providing resistance. Lead by the more experienced Colin Keatch, the Morrish's in Alex and Thomas along with Jacob Grigg were all among the Demons' best.

While the Demons will be happy with their finish, it was Woomelang Lascelles' day. The Cats will be ecstatic with the win and to draw 4 points clear of their challengers.
It was a similar story when top took on bottom in the second game of the round. The Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers rampaged to an 83-point win over a struggling Walpeup Underbool.

It was a typical story for the Tigers. Their three tall, experienced forwards in Arentz, Doering and Ryan were their leading goal kickers, and Scott Weekley and Tom Summerhayes were running amok in the midfield.

The Tigers could have named many more than 6 players in their best, as it was another 21-man performance that gave them the convincing win. Brad Collins was given best on ground honours, his brother Jason also having a day out.

The Roos were able to provide some resistance at different stages of the game. Ben Fisher and Luke Nathan kicked 2 goals apiece and were the Roos better players. Shane Birss always gives 100% and leads by example with his work around the contest.

The Roos will also be happy with the performance of some of their younger players. Thomas Hedley, Keegan Keeley and Justin Llewellyn battled out the game and made sure their opponents didn't get any easy kicks.

We are now at the half way point of the season and last year's grand finalists have been able to continue their strong form. While Walpeup Underbool may not have performed to the standard they would have liked, there is no doubt an upset win will come at some stage in the second half of the season. It will be the form of the Giants and Demons to keep an eye on as they challenge for a top 2 spot. Even with just 5 teams, the season has been set up to be an exciting race to the finish.
