A bright pink football will replace the traditional red one in Pink Footy day matches in North Gippsland Football this weekend as a show of support for women with breast cancer in rural and regional Victoria.
It has been five weeks in the making the much anticipated clash of the competitions biggest improvers WOODSIDE and reigning premiers HEYFIELD. League followers will be waiting with baited breath at the contest that waits, with many somewhat surprised as to the rise of the Wildcats who sit one game clear of this week's opponent.
Remaining the only undefeated side in the competition the Wildcats will have their hands full when they meet the Kangaroos who have taken all before them in past weeks with an average winning margin of 67 points.
Showing no signs of slowing up or dropping their dominance which has pitted them as the powerhouse club in past seasons, Heyfield has got their premiership defence on track with astute recruitment adding to an already formidable lineup. Highlighting a defender as key in their preseason recruitment former Cowwarr back man Scott Anderson has proven to be one of the recruitments of the season playing a pivotal role in defence. Anderson featuring among the best in recent weeks.
Saturdays contest is likely to act as a barometer providing Wildcats coaching staff with an indication as to just where they are at the early stages of the competition. Playing two sides who sit perched at the top end of the premiership ladder standings in consecutive weeks is a tough ask for any side but in their current form expect Woodside to relish and possibly cause the upset of the season.
