After a hard-fought first half in which Lockington-Bamawm United only led Heathcote by five points, the Cats kicked 11 goals to five after the long break to win 15.16 (106) to 8.11 (59).
Ruckman Liam Main, midfielder John Halloran and defender Carl Treacy led the way for the visitors, with the bulk of the goals kicked by Jarod Bacon (five), Lachie Collins (four) and Ryan Jensen (three).
■ Colbinabbin produced a fighting performance to stay in touch with the top five as it held off White Hills to win 8.7 (55) to 7.8 (50).
Led by a stand out performance from Jacob Weppner (five goals), the Grasshoppers led by 26 points at the first break before nothing separated the teams at the final break.
Tom and Tim Hill also starred for the home side, while Jamie Conboy, Andrew Gladstone and Tom Collins were the best for the Demons.
■ North Bendigo held off a gallant Mt Pleasant side to win 15.12 (102) to 13.8 (86).
The Bulldogs only led by one point at half-time, but a four-goal to one third quarter helped the home team gain a significant advantage.
Jordan Ford, Ryan Alford and Cameron Lomas led the way for North Bendigo, as Jesse Evans and Michael Spooner each kicked three goals, while Chris Black, Blake Natoli and Joe Whiting tried hard for Mounts, with Jarrod Findlay booting four majors.
■ The final match saw Elmore take a surprise two-goal lead against Huntly in the opening term before the Hawks blitzed the Bloods in the remaining three quarters to win 24.18 (162) to 8.9 (57).
Chris Gleeson (seven), Lachy O'Toole (four) and Briady Dickens (three) led the way on the scoreboard for the winners, as Josh Harris, Tom Curry and Cory Lobb starred.
James Drake, Andrew Grant and Danny Bateman tried hard for the visitors, while Anthony Pierri booted three goals.
