Mallee FLAnother fine weekend of football saw Ouyen United join the winners list with a commanding victory over traditional rivals, Walpeup-Underbool, at Blackburn Park.

After both teams went down in narrow losses last week, there was plenty to play for heading into the Easter break. Some good defensive pressure coupled with some inaccurate kicking for goal from both teams made for a tight first quarter. Walpeup-Underbool took a 2 point lead into the second quarter, but from then on, it was all Ouyen for the rest of the day as they stamped their authority on the match.

They were able to pile on 6 goals to none in the second term, followed by another 6 goals in
the in the third. Ouyen United eventually ran out 82 point victors as their midfield and defense were able to clamp down, and restrict the Roo's to only 4 goals for the game.

Lawrence Angwin was best on ground with an 8 goal performance, while Marcus Healy and Ryan Monaghan also kicked 3 and 2 each for the Demons. Marc Hahnel and Ben Gregg were again in the best for Ouyen, while Jeremy Brown, Kane Munro, and Joshua Plozza battled hard all day for the Walpeup-Underbool side.

Stakes were high at the Beulah Football Ground, as Beulah faced the team that knocked them out of last year's finals race, Woomelang-Lascelles. The Cats jumped the Blues from the initial bounce, kicking 5 goals 1 to Beulah's 2 goals 3.

Beulah were forced to play catch up in the second term, and after sharpening up their skills around the ground, they were leading by 11 points at halftime. The Cats ran hard in the third term and after kicking 2 goals to Beulah's 1, they were within 3 points heading into the final quarter.

Beulah were able to kick away with the wind in the final quarter and finish the game off strongly with a 41 point victory. Dennis Redden kicked 4 goals, and Jason Turnbull 3 for the Blues. Shaun Monohan was again best on ground for Beulah, and was well supported by Fabian Dorbolo and Brock Orval. For Woomelang-Lascelles, Corey Kelley kicked 4 goals and Jayden Lonergan slotted 2. Rohan Coburn was best on ground for the Cats, while Anthony Foott and Martin Jones both worked hard all day.

The final match of the day saw the Sea Lake-Nandaly Tigers host the new look Jeparit-Rainbow side. Coming off the Round 1 bye, Jeparit-Rainbow got an early jump on the Tigers, kicking 6 goals 2, to 3 goals straight in the first quarter.

The Tigers were able to play the game on their terms in the second quarter, as they piled on 9 goals with the wind, to the Lakers 2, taking a 22 point lead into halftime. A tight third quarter ensued, and while the Tigers managed to kick 5 goals, it was their defense that were able to lock down on the Lakers to keep them scoreless. Jeparit-Rainbow managed 2 goals, to the Tigers 1 in the final quarter, but at the final siren they went down by 54 points.

Simon Weekly and Jarrod Arentz were dominant up forward kicking 12 goals between them. Wesley Harrison, Wesley Sewell, and Darcy Ryan were the standouts for Sea Lake-Nandaly. Brodie Grant was a multiple goal scorer for the Lakers, and also got in the best with Luke Werner, Nathan Millard, and Elliott Bath.
