NGFNLWet slippery conditions challenged many sides across the grounds, none more so then the clash between two teams on the improve SALE CITY and Boisdale/Briagolong.

With a large crowd taking cover from the weather on the sidelines, the Dogs young pups excited with the Bennett's Mitch and Beau owning the forward 50 early in the contest.

The visitors got off on the front foot early Brandon Rathnow combining with Jake Evans to open proceedings, before the Bombers rebounded from defence to register the responding major.

As the rain increased, both sides squandered chances in front of goal early with stray shots on goal left wanting before Mitch Bennett scored his first of five for the afternoon from outside 40 metres.

It would be the first of two for Bennett, with Rathnow contributing his second goal assist for the term before he then added himself to the highlights reel with his major making it three unanswered for the Dogs.
A 50 metre penalty gifted Mitch Evans his first as the Dogs skipped away to a commanding 19 point lead at the first change.

Boisdale's John Burge got the home side off on the right foot in the second term opening proceedings, before Beau Bennett quickly responded from the resulting centre clearance.

The Bombers had their chances, Jim Cook missed a chance early in the term before Matt Lee looked to steady the ship as his side chipped away on the scoreboard. However, it was the Bombers inaccuracy in front of goal that hampered their challenge ahead of half time, 8.2 (50) to 3.10 (28).

Outscoring the visitors in the third term the Bombers reeled in the deficit, but were little match for the Dogs in the final term.

Bomber Regan Tait grabbed three goals, with the ever-reliable Sam Howden adding two. Simon Jackson was named best on ground, captain Nicol Sandison never dropped his colours with the big man adjusting well to the conditions while Lee wore his various opponents like a glove in a strong tagging role.

When the game was briefly in the balance, it was City's talented youngsters who put the pedal down the Bennett's Mitch and Beau were sublime, Rathnow was key in setting up several majors and was among the play throughout the afternoon while Josh Barbetti was a solid contributor.
An undermanned TTU failed to plug the holes in their depleted cavalry which in turn resulted in a clinical performance by the competitions number one ranked side HEYFIELD.

Struggling to make an impact on the scoreboard throughout the contest the Bombers were relegated to playing catch up footy early on and were simply no match.

Registering a mere one major a quarter, last year's semi finalists were left to watch in awe as Heyfield key forwards Daniel Stubbe, who booted five goals for the match, and Jesse Bedggood stood up early as they lit up the forward line stretching the Bombers back six.
The final score line of 15.16 (105) to 4.7 (31) could have been far greater had the Kangaroos seized all their opportunities in front of goal.

Heyfield defenders Scott Anderson and Matt Goodwin were named among the best, with midfielder Jack Woodland collecting the votes for a best on ground performance with his bold aggressive approach and fierce attack on the ball. For the Bombers Hayden Hector was named best a field.

CHURCHILL claimed the silverware in the contest for the Lakes Oil Cup with a five goal victory at Gaskin Park.
Starting slow last week, the Cougars didn't make the same mistake two weeks in a row starting out strongly against formidable competition in Woodside.

Breaking away to an early three goal lead, the Cougars were well served in the engine room by Brandon Mahoney and Travis Brighton who gave their pacey midfield team mates and forwards first use of the ball. The Cougars continued the momentum in the second term, again outscoring the visitors to extend their quarter time margin to 36 points at the main change.

There was little reprieve for the Wildcats who struggled to match the pace of the Cougars on the wide open spaces of Gaskin Park, Churchill running home eventual 30 point victors 17.11 (113) to 12.11 (83).

Little separated GLENGARRY and Rosedale in the match of the round contest, with the Magpies holding a mere three point lead at the main change one that they would relinquish at the final change of ends before clawing back to steal a one point win.

For the second week in a row the Magpies have rallied to come from behind to snatch victory from within the grasp of the opposition, this week it would be the Blues that felt the raft of the reigning premiers.

In a level pegged opening term, the two sides continued to exchange blows on the scoreboard with Josh King and Mark Engley the go to men for the Magpies while Craig Mayman chipped in with three for the Blues. Glengarry led by a point at the first change, a lead they would extend to three at half time.

The premiership term was just as much an even affair with the Blues registering three majors to two as play rebounded back and forward between the half backlines, Rosedale turning the tables to lead by five points at the final change.

The Magpies regained their poise in the final term to outscore the Blues three goals to two and for the second week in a row overrun the opposition in the dying stages of the contest.

Glengarry's Dean Pearce and veteran Trevor May were solid performers with the pair named among the best. For the visitors the goals were shared among five individual goal scorers with Jed Hickey and Dale Fleming dogged performers.

YARRAM recorded their second win of the season despite a scoreless final term.

The Demons have faded in the final terms of all their matches to date and did the same again on Saturday against the Saints. Despite this, Cowwarr could only add 1.4 (10) which did little to eat into Yarram's 88 point three quarter lead, the Saints going down 20.13 (133) to 8.7 (55)

Yarram started strong with a 10 goal to four opening half, the going didn't get any easier for the Saints who felt the effects of the Demons potent forward structure with the home side slamming home 10 goals in a blistering premiership term. Ryan Underwood slotted home four, Corbin Sutherland added three to his season tally of 10, with the pair two of 12 individual goal scorers.

For the Saints Siaosi Lay-Blake was named best on ground, with Sean Alexander and Cory Banister solid performers.
