malleeflIt will be last year's grand final rematch set to be match of the round in the Mallee.

After building confidence in a comfortable round 1 victory over the Giants the Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers will have momentum under their belt when they take on Woomelang Lascelles.

Stopping in-form key forwards Simon Weekley and Jordan Doering will be the key to the Cats' success if they are to overturn the result from whence they last met. A key to this will be putting their midfield under pressure and not allowing Scott Weekley, Matt Elliot and Col Durie time and space to deliver the ball.

Woomelang Lascelles should match up well against the Tigers' midfield. Trent Donnan provides attack and composure around the packs and will be looking for support from new coach Josh Davies and Pierce Liddle to win contested ball.
The advantage that Woomelang Lascelles will be that they are coming in fresh off a bye and will be eager to set the tone early, but I'm not sure whether it will be enough to overcome a strong Tigers outfit.

In game 2 the Southern Mallee Giants will host Walpeup Underbool in their first home game as the new club in Hopetoun. Both teams are coming off losses and will be determined not to be 0-2 going into the Anzac weekend bye.

Both sides will be without their first rucks in Simon Cook and Brad Dabrowski. This will make it an important battle in who can get first use of the football without their number one ruckman.

In previous years Kain Robins has provided headaches for the Roos, so it will be interesting to see who gets the job there. Matt Palmer started on Brad Vallance last week and may get the first opportunity to play on Robins. Giants backman will be hoping for better match-ups after finding it difficult to go with Doering and Weekley last week. However, it will be the support of their midfield that will be the deciding factor in whether their job will be made an easier one or not.

The Giants will need to be watchful of the run, carry and precise delivery of Ryan Anderson, who generates many scoring opportunities for his side. It looks like the Roos will have to cover the loss of Luke Coates who suffered a facial injury in last weeks game.

This will be a close and exciting game of football with both teams wanting to find that first win.
