nthgiplogoGippsland Times | ROSEDALE notched its first win of the North Gippsland football season in emphatic style.

A 16-goal to one final term was among the highlights as the Blues whipped Woodside 35.18 (228) to 5.5 (35).

It was a tough day for the home side, which proved little match for a side which boasted goal scorers around the ground.

Brad Caldwell (six goals), Brad Scott (six) and Jeremy Reid (five) were among 15 individual scorers.

The visitors opened their account with five majors before stamping their supremacy on the match in the second term, kicking seven goals to two to all but end the contest by half-time.

Flashy midfielder Dale Fleming amassed possessions in a stellar individual performance, Adam Diamond made the most of his opportunities to shake the tag and run amok, Brad Scott was commanding in the forward line, while Woodside coach Daniel Risol was his side's only goal scorer with two majors.

Bulldogs bite

GLENGARRY copped the full brunt of Sale City at its ruthless best as the Bulldogs sealed their second win on the run, 32.16 (208) to 7.3 (45).

The performance brought back memories of the Bulldogs' during their back-to-back premiership years, 2010 and 2011.

Booting eight goals in the opening term and a further six in the second, the home side established a lead of 80 points by the long change. Keeping the foot on the pedal, the Bulldogs kicked nine majors to one in the final term to run home 163-point victors.

There were plenty of promising signs for the Bulldogs with Jake Schuback at his dominant best with a haul of six majors, recruit David Piasente finding plenty of the ball, Mitch Bennett and Rowan Bell both lively in attack. The back line was staunch, holding the Magpies' key forwards at bay.

Tigers test Roos

MAKING one of the toughest road trips on the back of an 18-goal defeat in round one, Gormandale proved to be a formidable opponent for Heyfield, which was forced to work hard for the four points.

Leading by four points at the first change, the Tigers kept with their more fancied opponent in a tight dogged affair which coach Luke Henderson was reflective about.

"A much improved defensive game gave us a real chance. That needs to be the minimum standards of our group for us to compete each week," he said.

"We played with real purpose and intent, and are looking forward to the next challenge of Yarram."

Outscored 5.4 to 3.3 in the second term, the visitors remained within arm's reach at the main break, however the Kangaroos, through forward Daniel Stubbe, registered their second win by a comfortable 27 points, 16.16 (11) to 13.7 (85).

Daniel Stubbe was the pick of the goal scorers finishing with a game high seven, Shaun Humphries was one of the chief architects across half-back, with Josh Stubbe continuing his impressive start to the season in the engine room.

Cougars open account

PREMIER Churchill opened its season account 17.13 (115) to 12.20 (92) against Cowwarr.

The contest was evenly-poised following a tight physical first quarter, with the Saints holding sway at the first change.

The momentum swung in the Cougars' favour in the second term, with their dominance in the ruck courtesy of Andrew Brown and the fleet footed running brigade ensuring a barnstorming eight-goal to four term which proved telling at the final siren.

The Saints regained their composure following half-time, chipping away on the scoreboard. Brad McBride finishing with five goals.

However, it was the Cougars' electric second term which guaranteed them the points.

Tim Darby was the pick of the goal scorers with six, James Allan was a solid contributor, while Chris

Williams and Nick Campbell demonstrated flair around the contests.
