malleeflIt is now all tied up at the top of the Mallee Football League ladder. Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers, Woomelang Lascelles and Ouyen United all sit on equal points with 3 wins and 1 loss.

A high standard of football took place at Ouyen Recreation Reserve, and unfortunately for the home side they weren't able to hang on, going down to Woomelang Lascelles by 20 points.

After a thrilling win last week the Demons used this momentum to come out firing in the first quarter to lead by 3 goals. Laurence Angwin was always going to prove a handful for the Cats defence and consistent performers Dean Staunton and Henry Armour again worked hard in the middle of the ground to win many clearances.

The Cats hit back in the second term to draw 5 points clear, and it was in the second half where they put their foot down. It was also their in-form on-ballers who were doing all the damage. After a best-on-ground performance last week, Jack Shannahan was winning possession at will. Trent Donnan and Pierce Liddle were also able to find plenty of the ball and drive the Cats forward with purpose and precision. Harry Harcourt was dangerous up forward and finished with five goals to be the Cats leading goal kicker.

It was Ouyen United's young brigade that again proved run and carry. Jacob Grigg and Alex Morrish both had good games and Aron Morrish has been solid at full back all year. However this wasn't enough to get the their team over the line.

The second game of the round was not so close. Walpeup Underbool were smashed by a ruthless Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers at Underbool. The first term was a tight contest with the Roos taking it to the reigning premiers in a tough quarter of football. Both teams showed a high quality of skill, which the Roos had been missing in previous games this season. But that was where it ended for the Walpeup Underbool team as the Tigers clicked into a different gear to totaly dominate in all areas of the field. They booted 10 goals to nil in an awesome display of football in the second term.

Doering was well held in the first quarter up forward for the Tigers but he broke free and the Roos had no answer as he had a day out booting 9 goals. The SLNT midfield was able to find space led by Durie and Summerhayes, and the rest of the team followed. Any time the Roos pushed forward the Tigers defence seemed to have the ball on a string with Luke Martin gathering plenty of possessions.

The game was well and truly over by half time and the home team would not be happy with the way they finished the game. While the Tigers did as they pleased, the Roos had some winners in Shane Burss who was a standout and Brad Dobrowski had his best game so far.
